TAKE IT AND COME

A feature documentary following the young women behind the dildo-toting, anti-campus carry, Cocks Not Glocks protest in Austin, TX.

OUR FILM

Jessica Jin, a University of Texas graduate, didn’t realize she was launching herself into the world of activism and gun violence prevention when she posted a mock Facebook event titled “Campus (Dildo) Carry” as a response to the Campus Carry bill. The event called for students to strap “giant swinging dildos” to their backpacks on the first day of classes at UT, poking fun at the fact that it would now be legal to carry a gun into a college classroom, but openly brandishing a dildo was a Class C misdemeanor.

Jessica invited her friends to the event, went to bed, and within days the page went viral.

Jessica’s joke became the Cocks Not Glocks protest, which took place on the UT Austin campus on August 24, 2016. Over 4,000 dildos were distributed and strapped onto the backpacks of students. The protest garnered national attention, including coverage by the New York Times, Rolling Stone, Vice News and the Daily Show.

Our feature documentary follows Jessica and the young women that join her team as they navigate what it means to be activists, organize to launch a dildo protest and take a stand against gun culture in the state of Texas.
